At Faith Works Language Initiative (FWLI), we believe the Bible contains God’s plan for salvation and sanctification through Jesus Christ — for everyone. We believe that translating the Bible into minority languages brings this good news closer to the hearts of millions of people who would otherwise not have access to, and a clear understanding of the gospel.
Working with our local partners, FWLI trains and equips mother tongue speakers in communities we serve to use technology and reputable Biblical resources to do quality translation for the good of their people.
Being native speakers gives mother tongue translators a strong advantage that allows them to work authentically to translate the Bible accurately. As stakeholders of their own language, translators and representatives of the church and larger community are best positioned to review and edit the translation to ensure that it meets all the criteria of quality translation. Collectively, they agree on the format that fits the needs of their people best.
